Hello world.
My very first blog post! Glad you’re here to celebrate with me.
There’s not a whole lot going on. As a matter of fact, as I write this, adamkernes.com is still set to private, and has yet to see the light of day. Okay so that’s not entirely true. I bought my eponymous domain name way back at the end of 2015, then built and hosted a portfolio website with Squarespace. The site was live for the majority of 2016. It mostly featured projects from my undergraduate studies at Cal Poly Pomona, and included imagery exclusively from my previous offline portfolios. It was mostly just a fun side project. And it never really became anything. After its first trip around the sun, I made the difficult decision to pull the plug, and let my website meet its untimely demise.

My primary intentions for the project were to establish an internet presence, learn a bit about creating and maintaining a website, and potentially help find myself future employment. From that perspective, I think it was a decent success. Ultimately, it failed because of its limited scope and unclear direction for growth. Today I’m hoping to change that, and so this is my second attempt. I want to continue to create and share interesting work, and I want this website to be a permanent part of my creative outlet.
I’ve found some unexpected free time in the past year (anybody else?) to rebuild and refine my portfolio, so I’m ready to give this thing another chance. If you have any ideas, or just want to say “what’s up,” definitely drop something in the comments below, or get in touch with me on the contact page.
I’m really excited to see what this becomes. I hope you are too.
