Hello.
My name is Adam.
I’m 29 years old, born and raised in Brea, California. When I was seven I decided I wanted to be an astronaut. My second grade teacher told me I might have better success in the field of astronomy. I later studied architecture at Cal Poly Pomona, but after five years I think I may still be more interested in being an astronaut (though I did thoroughly enjoy an introductory astronomy course in college). I moved out to Colorado at the end of 2016, and I’ve spent most of my time here in Breckenridge. Shredding the slopes is the closest I’ve come to outer space.
At six years old, I was enrolled in the Cub Scouts. I remember thinking the best part was sleeping out under the stars. I made it to the Boy Scouts at 11, and realized the best part of the Cub Scouts was that the adults did all the planning and work. When I was 14 I went to Philmont, and learned I actually enjoyed doing the planning and work. Then at 24 I learned I could make money doing what I enjoyed, when I returned to camp as staff that summer and the next. The following summer I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, and spent 129 nights sleeping out under the stars.
My elementary school had a decent arts program. Each month we’d study one of the greats, and then create our own piece in their style. As a fundraiser, there was an auction of the best piece from each class for the year. My third grade teacher selected one of my work’s for auction. My parents bade the highest. I was ecstatic.
I never graduated from Cal Poly. My senior thesis was failed. I entered some of the work from my project to the Brea Art Gallery’s annual “Made in California” exhibit, and received my own wall for display. So while I don’t have a degree, I do have a photo of the time I made it to the front page of my hometown’s newspaper:
Disclaimer: This website is a perpetual work-in-progress. I don’t work well with overly rigid schedules, and I sometimes change plans last minute. The thought of a deadline severely stresses me out, and I always tend to an opportunity for spontaneity. My values and ideals are really all that matter to me, and I will put up a fucking fight if I feel they are challenged.
